Daktarin Oral Gel is a white, sugar free gel with an orange taste and is supplied in tubes of 15g.It is used to prevent and treat fungal and bacterial infections of the mouth and throat. It works by destroying the fungus and associated bacteria which may be present. Do not use Daktarin Oral Gel if: You have ever experienced an allergic reaction (hypersensitivity) to Daktarin Oral Gel, miconazole or any of the other ingredients in the past, you have any kind of liver disease, you are taking a hayfever or antihistamine product containing terfenadine or astemizole, you are taking cisapride. Inform your pharmacist or doctor before taking the medicine if any of the above applies to you. If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, you should talk to your doctor who will decide if you can use this product .If you are breast feeding ask your doctor for advice. Always tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines because taking some medicines together can be harmful. Your doctor may want to reduce the dose of certain medicines before you begin your course of treatment. If you are taking blood thinning agents by mouth, medicines for diabetes which you take by mouth, the antiepileptic drug, phenytoin, cyclosporin or tacrolimus, which are usually given after an organ transplant, do not take Daktarin Oral Gel until you have discussed this with your doctor. In the unlikely event of anyone accidentally swallowing more Daktarin Oral Gel than is recommended, contact your doctor or nearest hospital casualty department immediately. Daktarin Oral Gel is usually well tolerated and few undesired effects are likely at the prescribed amounts. In some cases nausea and vomiting can occur. When the gel has to be taken over a longer period, diarrhoea may appear.
