Whilst many of us are familiar with Turmeric as a spice, the bright yellow root has also been used for thousands of years.
Native to South East Asia, Turmeric is a relative of the Ginger plant. Due to its distinctive colour and flavour, it's commonly dried and ground to be used as a spice in cooking. The bright yellow colour of Turmeric is caused by the plant’s main active ingredient, Curcumin.
